Set your no-buy rules

A useful challenge names one thing to pause and one fair exception. A strict list of everything can make a normal slip feel like failure.

Your plan stays in this browser.

How to start a no-buy challenge

A no-buy challenge pauses selected non-essential purchases for a chosen period. It does not have to mean buying nothing.

Keep bills, food, medicine, and necessary replacements allowed. Use the check-in above to record days on track, not dollars saved.

Start with one category where extra purchases often happen. Pause unplanned clothes for 30 days, for example, while allowing a worn-out daily item to be replaced.

Clear rules answer the hard question before a checkout page does.

Choose a length you can finish

Try 7 days if this is new, 14 if you know your trigger, or 30 for a month-long reset. A year is a bigger commitment; review your rules before extending them.

Make the numbers concrete

If you usually buy one $48 clothing item each week, skipping two would leave $96 unspent. That is an example, not a promise.

Count only money you really chose not to spend. Do not treat planned spending as saved money.

What if you break a rule?

Write down what happened and keep going. One purchase does not erase the rest of the challenge.

Clarify the exception if needed, then use the next urge as a chance to pause.

When you want something now

A no-buy rule sets the boundary; a short wait helps with an immediate urge. Save the item and price, wait 24 hours, then choose.

Unbought keeps those holds on your device, with no account required.
